General packing tips in tour to Ukraine

We want you to enjoy your trip to our country and hope to provide you with all necessary materials to make your trip successful. You shouldn’t take a lot of things with you only the luggage that you can carry yourself. Mostly you will need casual clothes and comfortable shoes. Maybe you will need some business suits or jackets for evening. In Ukraine people do not wear anything more formal than a business suit or a cocktail dress when they go to the theatre or restaurant. Make sure that your overcoat has a hanging loop because you will be required to check these garments (at no charge) in theatres or dining areas. In your hand –carried luggage pack must be enough clothes and toiletries to last some days in case your luggage gets misplaced. Keep your luggage down to minimum. Seasonal tips Spring – consistently warm weather begins in late April or May. Sweaters and some sort of overcoat are still advisable for spring tours. Summer – during the summer months (June, July, August) the weather will be warm enough during the day to wear short sleeve shirts. You may want to take a warm sweater, as it tends to cool off in the evenings. Fall or autumn normally lasts about two months, from September to the beginning of November Sweaters and overcoats are definitely needed. A set of long underwear will make you well prepared, and takes up little space. Winter – begins in early November. Your packing should include heavy sweaters, wool clothing, a heavy topcoat and boots, hats with earflaps, scarf, gloves and long winter underwear. Toiletries Some toiletries you are accustomed to in your country might not be available, or not the same quality in Ukraine. So take with you: Hand/body soap, shampoo Extra pair of glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, copy of prescriptions Special batteries for cameras, watches Photocopies of passport, visa, airline tickets Umbrella Small calculator Notepads English/Russian dictionary Camera Photos of your city, family, friends Electric converter for shavers, hair dryer Medicine Be sure to bring over-the-counter medication such as Aspirin, Tylenol, Cough Syrup, Alka- Selzer, Antacid, first aid cream and allergy medication. They will be difficult to fin in Ukraine. To avoid problems with customs keep all the medicine in original bottles and make sure prescription medicine is labeled as such. Baggage Each ticketed passenger is allowed a maximum of 3 bags, including one carry-on, free of charge. All checked bags, must be no heavier than 50 pounds each. Any baggage greater than 63 inch4s must be checked as excess baggage. Note: Sizes are the sum of length, width, and height. Data devices Portable data storage devices are in high demand now thanks to the increasing popularity of digital camera, MP3 players and PDAs – all of which can be helpful for tourists. Unfortunately these items are sometimes not permitted by Customs. We advise you not to bring a lot of CDs in order to avoid any unpleasant arguments. Cell phones Cell phones can prove to be a wonderful tool in your tour. If you would like to use your cell phone for locals calls in the tour city it must fit the following criteria: GSM Minimum-Tri-Band (850, 900, 1800 frequency) SIM card type OEM or carrier unlocked An unlocked card will allow you to switch SIM cards to local operator and enjoy local calling. IMPORTANT! Not all unlocked phones will accept a foreign SIM card. Be sure to check with your local provider.
